Window in the Sagrada Familia

A recent weekend in Barcelona enabled me to visit Gaudi’s famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral. Although the exterior is amazing, I was unprepared for the effect the interior had on me. The apse has been glazed recently with “stained glass” (actually only leaded lights) and although the designs are abstract the final effect was so right for the architectural setting. The artist Joan Vila-Grau who has been working on the glass since 1999, has followed Gaudi’s original directions. The windows have various themes such as, The Water, The Ressurection, The Light, The Life, and The Nativity.

If you visit the Cathedral, don’t just view the facade. Go inside, you won’t regret it!
